Plans are underway to redevelop a 26-acre+ site on the Strip into part of the Las Vegas Global Business District, creating a new 750,000-square-foot convention hall, a general assembly facility, a World Trade Center and a transportation system. Construction is planned on the site of the Riviera, which the authority purchased for $182.5 million in a high-profile transaction in February, and on a parking lot the authority owns at Paradise Road and Convention Center Drive.
